Gillian Lobel was born in Coventry and read English at Manchester University. She has done a number of different jobs, from selling insurance to making and selling hobby horses and other children’s toys at craft fairs. She taught English for many years, as well as tutoring children with special educational needs. Her great loves – apart from writing and her family! – are classical music, cats, her garden, poetry, walking, arts and crafts and natural history.
